Self realization in Hinduism means realizing our true inner self existing in our heart as our soul atman. Dominated by an ego we failed to realize our true identity as a soul atman. We could realize our true inner self only by indulgence in path of spirituality as detailed in Bhagavad Gita. True realization of self is reached when our soul atman finally reaches stage of absolute purity, emancipates from cycle of birth and death forever. When karma negates to zero, a soul atman reaches stage of absolute purity forever.
Negation of karma to zero becomes possible by establishing absolute control over five senses and mind. Control over five senses and mind can be established only through path of yoga meditation. Self realization also means god realization. After reaching stage of self realization a Yogi finally reaches end of yoga, merges ones identity with God Almighty forever.
