The moment one reaches stage of self realization, the whole world becomes one large family. In that state because of absence of ego within, we cared less for our immediate family. This was unavoidable, inevitable. If a Yogi indulged in path of spirituality while remaining in Grihastha ashram (married life), the family members definitely suffered. God took care of basic necessities but the opulence was missing. This is the price family members had to pay for one to reach stage of self realization.
