The golden era is a period normally termed as Satyuga in Hinduism. During Gupta Empire, one of the oldest universities of the world, the famous Nalanda University was established. This University is famous for its dissemination of jnana wisdom, its collection of manuscripts of original scriptures. The seat for indulgence in Vedas, Upanishads (independent treatises)… even Bhagavad Gita!
Jesus Christ during his missing years (14 to 29) came to Nalanda University to indulge in Hindu philosophy. No wonder Gupta Empire is compared to golden era!
The Mogul empire is remembered for barbaric activities under rule of Babur, Timur and Genghis Khan etc… Even worse than present Kali Yuga (Dark Age, metal age)!
