Hinduism must rightly be coined as Sanatana Dharma, something that exists from times immemorial. Dharma (righteousness) was inherent in all living beings. One could not survive in absence of Dharma.
Before invaders from West (who pronounced H for I) started calling people living east of river Indus as Hindus, the whole umbrella philosophy that existed in erstwhile Bharatvarsha (now India) was termed Sanatana Dharma.
Hinduism, Sanatana Dharma means a philosophy that was perennial, universal in nature… prime reason why Hinduism is also called a way of life.
Dharma is integral to teachings of spirituality contained in Bhagavad Gita and Upanishads… even Vedas!
