All earthly relationships come to absolute naught and were limited to present earthly domain. Death announces end of earthly relationship in any form. After occurrence of death, the released soul atman immediately manifests a new body to start new cycle of life. Only if matching parents are not available on mother earth, the soul atman hibernates in heaven or hell. Sooner matching parents become available, the hibernating soul atman manifests a new body to start new journey of life.
This new manifestation, the new body would never be able to recognize the old manifestation, the old relationships whatsoever! So was not ordained by God Almighty. The reason was apparent!
What if my best friend in present life would be the cause of my death in present life as I was the cause of his death in previous life! The other soul atman manifesting a human form became my best friend only to neutralize effects of karma of previous life. We were prohibited to look in past.
After occurrence of death in the family, the most we could do for the departed soul was try finishing the leftovers, the utmost desires and wishes of the departed soul. We must indulge only if we wanted to, if such an indulgence gives us meaning of life, happiness from within!
Lord Krishna in Bhagavad Gita says never to look back, and keep concentrating on living in the moment!
