On path of absolute truth, every single seeker experiences reduction in food intake. One finally reaches a stage when the seeker could remain without food and water for periods extending above 55 days. This was an absolute fact of life in case of Mahavira (24th Tirthankara of Jainism) who could remain without food and water for 55 days.

 

As dross impurities within our soul atman gradually reduced, the food intake required by the body also decreased proportionately. In the last stages of spiritual pursuit one could remain without food and water even up to 75 days.

 

Hinduism and Jainism religion were absolutely clear on this point of life. Following teachings of spirituality contained in Bhagavad Gita… any human being world over could experience such stages while indulging in yoga meditation.

 

When human beings evolved, initially came religion… which evolved from the root word religare, meaning to bond. As first words of wisdom were invoked by human beings, spirituality came into fore. Human beings for the first time realized they were a spirit, consciousness… soul atman manifesting human form. Spirituality forms integral part of religion.

 

Human beings could realize they were a soul atman only by indulging in path of spirituality, yoga meditation. Yoga meditation demands our indulgence in contemplation to reach hidden cosmic truths of life contained in sacred texts of different religions of world. Indulging in spirituality, yoga meditation human beings finally reached God in their lifetime.
