If science says human beings evolved directly from monkeys… Hinduism scriptures state otherwise. As detailed in Bhagavad Gita and Upanishads (independent treatises) human form evolved directly from stage of animals, not necessarily monkeys. The reason was apparent. Based on residual balance of karma at the time of death, our soul atman manifests the new form.
As per Hinduism and Jainism scriptures, a king in present life after death may again manifest form of a laborer. Everything depended upon residual balance of karma at the time of death. The soul atman of Hitler could never manifest a human body in next manifestation. Due to untold atrocities committed on Jews and others the soul atman of Hitler would manifest a lower form of life… the form of an animal, plant or even an insect. Jainism scriptures were absolutely clear on this point of evolution.
Going by this analogy, even a fish based on residual balance of karma at the time of death could evolve directly into human form. Such transition from fish to human form, from house to human form was acceptable in scriptures of Hinduism and also Jainism. Scriptures of Jainism go a step further. They also say that soul atman of two pigeons (who sacrificed their life to feed a hungry couple) could directly manifest stage of enlightenment. However, this assumption in Jainism was totally misplaced.
As detailed in Bhagavad Gita and Upanishads, human form was the highest manifest stage in cosmic life cycle. It was only in human form our soul atman, the consciousness within finally emancipates self from cycle of birth and death forever. Enlightenment could never be gained in lower forms of life. Becoming a Mahavira, Gautama Buddha, Jesus Christ or Prophet Mohammed was the cosmic goal of human life on mother earth. Lord Krishna in Bhagavad Gita bluntly says every single human being had a spark of divinity within to reach stage of enlightenment in present life.
The most a human being could evolve was stage of enlightenment!
