The Most Salient Features of Hinduism were –


1. Hinduism is the oldest and best religion of world.

 

2. Following teachings contained in Hinduism, primarily Bhagavad Gita human beings gained enlightenment in their lifetime.

 

3. Lord Krishna in Bhagavad Gita represents soul atman existing in human body. It is following voice of Lord Krishna from within human beings gained enlightenment, moksha salvation.

 

4. Scriptures of Hinduism like Vedas, Upanishads (independent treatises) and Bhagavad Gita contained truth and only truth. Nothing in these scriptures dilutes with time.

 

5. All enlightened souls who manifest on mother earth succeeded in reaching stage of enlightenment following teachings of Bhagavad Gita, Upanishads and Vedas. This includes Jesus Christ and Prophet Mohammed also.

 

6. Hinduism believes in one and only God, creator of entire cosmos… termed Brahman in Hinduism.

 

7. All other gods and goddesses of Hinduism relate to mythology, were only attributes of God Almighty (Brahman)… a medium to explain the hidden underlying cosmic truths of life.

 

8. In present times human beings could gain enlightenment following path of jnana yoga and nishkama karma yoga. None could reach God in present times following path of bhakti yoga alone.

 

9. Hinduism advocates indulging in yoga meditation via path of contemplation, introspection… logical reasoning.

 

10. All stories doing rounds of Hinduism relating to various gods and goddesses were only parables to explain hidden deeper spiritual values of life. Lord Krishna, an avatar of his era was the foremost of all.

 

11. The best part of Hinduism was one could indulge in Bhagavad Gita even while continuing in ones religion, faith or belief. To understand spiritual precepts contained in Bhagavad Gita one need not convert to Hinduism.

 

12. Commentaries on Bhagavad Gita and principal Upanishads that also contained the original sayings, writings were available with Gita press, Gorakhpur, India for as low as $.60 (Rs. 40/=)

 

13. Hinduism primarily was not a religion and should be aptly called Sanatana Dharma, something existing from times immemorial. Hinduism is also called a way of life similar to Jainism.

 

14. Hinduism believes in one God (Brahman), world of souls atmans and doctrine of reincarnation, rebirth. Scriptures of Hinduism detail doctrine of karma understanding which human beings could easily gain enlightenment, moksha salvation in present lifetime.

 

15. As per Hinduism meditation yoga could be indulged even in Grihastha ashram (family life). As per Lord Krishna the biggest Yogi of all was one who could practice, indulge in spirituality even while living in confines of home. One need not become a recluse or go to religious centres in search of God.
