For Praying to God in a Temple a Symbol of God was Necessitated and Hence Creation of Idols

In the early Vedic period people in erstwhile Bharatvarsha (now India) worshipped rivers, mountains… hordes of gods and goddesses in various forms. It was not within their capability to conceptualize Nirakaar form of God (Brahman) (having no form). With passage of time their ideas took shape and many forms of gods and goddesses in shape of idols came into being. This got necessitated as mankind started building temples to offer their prayers, worship to god. For praying to god in a temple a symbol of God was necessitated and hence the creation of idols.
