Do We need Guru Hinduism

A guru is needed only on path of pure spirituality, never path of religion (rituals). To expedite ones journey towards God, a seeker sometimes needs clarifying vital issues concerning spirituality. Here Mahavira (24th Tirthankara of Jainism, preceptor) says one must indulge in preaching only after becoming an enlightened one… a bodhi, a Jina.

In the last about 150 years amongst 7 billion people existing world over only two spiritual stalwarts Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa and Maharishi Ramana finally succeeded in gaining enlightenment in their lifetime. In the circumstances, how could one expect to get a guru in life? Swami Vivekananda was lucky enough to find his spiritual mentor Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa.

It has rightly been said, journey of spirituality is always travelled all alone. No matter how best we try, we may never get a preceptor to guide us in the spiritual journey of life. Bhagavad Gita abhors one having a guru in life for the only reason that such spiritual preceptors were not to be found. Furthermore, there was always a likelihood of a seeker developing emotional bondage with a guru.

As detailed in Bhagavad Gita, every single human being on mother earth must try reaching stage of enlightenment through path of contemplation, path of self enquiry, path of logical reasoning. The only guru we could find in life was teachings of enlightened ones that were available in galore. All my life I followed the path undertaken by Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa and Maharishi Ramana.

Path of self enquiry followed and advocated by Maharishi Ramana was a sure shot method of reaching God in present life. Teachings relating to Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa and Maharishi Ramana are of great help in reaching God in present life. All my life I duplicated most of the path undertaken by Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa and Maharishi Ramana.

In the early stages of spiritual pursuit no matter how best I tried, I could not find a spiritual master to guide me in the journey of life. Finally in exasperation one day I asked God Almighty to become my guide in the journey of life and lo, he willingly agreed. Since then it was never looking back. I got what I wanted.
