Enlightenment was not something that one hears and starts following. The domain of enlightenment lay in field of spirituality that demands travelling path of contemplation, logical reasoning.
Every single moment of life human beings lived two lives. One by the physical manifest self designated as a human being and other by our soul atman, the consciousness within. As detailed in Bhagavad Gita and various Upanishads (independent treatises) the journey of present life belongs to our soul atman, the spirit within and never the manifest physical human form.
The human form was manifested by our soul atman to cleanse self of dross impurities within, reach stage of absolute purity. The so-called absolute purity by a soul atman can only be achieved when human beings travelled path of spirituality to gain enlightenment in their lifetime. Dominated by a bloated ego most human beings on mother earth mesmerized by glare of worldly riches did not want to travel spiritual path. They preferred travelling path of religion (rituals) that never led to God Almighty.
Path to enlightenment was not that easy to travel as in the last about 150 years amongst 7 billion people existing world over only two spiritual stalwarts Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa and Maharishi Ramana finally succeeded in gaining enlightenment to reach God in their lifetime. Travelling path of enlightenment was never by choice. It was not something that could be achieved through literal reading.
Reaching stage of enlightenment demands contemplation in sacred texts of different scriptures of world. Most people world over failed at this stage. Almost none wanted to indulge in scriptures the way demanded by path of enlightenment. If people think enlightenment could be gained by meditation in retreats, they were absolutely mistaken. Such people failed to realize true meaning of yoga meditation.
As many human beings as many different paths to God Almighty can there be. Yoga meditation can never be taught by anyone. Path of contemplation, logical reasoning is always travelled all alone. Those imparting so-called meditation knew nothing about yoga meditation, prime reason why none world over gained enlightenment through so-called half baked teachings of religious or spiritual preachers.
Indulgence in yoga meditation worldwide has become a commercial phenomenon. In my 50 years of spiritual travail I have yet to find a person who could detail to me the correct definition of spirituality, enlightenment or moksha salvation. I took a world tour of 40 days in 1987 just to assess the spiritual prowess of people worldwide. I returned empty-handed.
Mahavira, 24th Tirthankara of Jainism (preceptor) rightly said, “Do not preach unless you become a bodhi, a Jina… a Mahavira. Preaching half baked theories to gullible mankind through medium of TV or Internet does not mean anything on path of pure spirituality. Yoga meditation is never indulged that way.
I started in search of God six years of age. By 13, I finally decided to see and meet God in this very life. 25 years of yoga meditation I finally reached stage of self realization, god realization… cosmic end of life! Having become a pure soul atman, the moment I leave my mortal frame I shall attain salvation moksha forever. It is most surprising people who did not understand A of spirituality preaching enlightenment.
And the masses acted ignorant all the time. Everything relating to reaching stage of enlightenment was available in teachings of Bhagavad Gita, the sermon given to mankind by Lord Krishna in the battle of Mahabharata. The original gist of Bhagavad Gita with English or Hindi translation is available for merely Rs. 40/= ($.60) from Gita press, Gorakhpur, India still, people failed to reach God in their lifetime.
Who was to blame, God Almighty, the scriptures or the individual self?
