The state of Egolessness can be reached only by overpowering five senses and mind. When our goal of life was welfare of mankind at large… overpowering of ego forever was never a problem. Mahavira did it and so did Gautama Buddha. Jesus Christ did it and so did Prophet Mohammed.
In recent times Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa did it and so did Maharishi Ramana. Stage of enlightenment is reached only when we annihilated our ego forever. Establishing absolute control over five senses and mind was a difficult proposition but not impossible.
One exhibiting, willpower possessed by Swami Vivekananda can easily do it. Does this mean one needs reaching level of Swami Vivekananda to establish absolute control over ego… yes, the truth is so!
