In present times only spirituality relates to enlightenment not religion, path of rituals. Enlightenment is the stage when we as a soul atman gained absolute purity forever. This is the stage when our karma negates to zero forever. In absence of dross impurities within, the need for a soul atman to manifest another body now ceased to exist. The purified soul atman finally liberates from cycle of birth and death forever.
Spirituality is the path that leads one directly to our true inner self… our soul atman, the consciousness within. We were primarily a spiritual being on our cosmic journey of 8.4 million manifestations that entailed an earthly journey of 96.4 million years. To travel spiritual path in present times, our indulgence in teachings of Bhagavad Gita were necessitated.
One could not reach stage of enlightenment through path of bhakti yoga or karma yoga alone. Path of bhakti yoga relates to path of religion, path of rituals. Path of bhakti yoga demands total submission to God Almighty which in present times of strife, tribulation almost seemed impossible. To reach God in present times, our undertaking path of jnana yoga (absolute wisdom) was necessitated.
The hidden underlying truths of sacred texts of different religions of world can only be understood by travelling path of jnana yoga, never path of bhakti yoga or karma yoga alone. Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa and Maharishi Ramana, the two spiritual stalwarts from India started their search of God via path of karma yoga and bhakti yoga. But finding God could not be reached via path of bhakti yoga alone, both finally switched to path of jnana yoga to reach God in their lifetime.
In yesteryears, during times of Sant Tukaram, Namdev, Eknath, Jnanesvar, Kabirdas etc. seekers reached god via path of bhakti yoga alone. But in present times of Kali Yuga… Dark Age, metal age the possibility was remote.
