The fine line that separates principles of morality from immorality existed in karma. Whatever that was necessary to sustain, live life as ordained by God Almighty was never considered a sin as per Lord Krishna in Bhagavad Gita. Eliminating cells and bacteria for a particular cause could never be termed a sin. Indulging in indiscriminate killing of life definitely was a sin.
On path of evolution, every living form gradually evolves one step higher. Only when we indulged in bad karma, did we fall! Cells and bacteria do not fall under category of a living being. The first manifestation by a soul atman was form of amoeba (single cell formation). Anything smaller than amoeba did not constitute a living entity!
