I started in search of God six years of age. At that young age I was fascinated by spiritual stories doing the rounds of my house. After dinner late in the night elders used to tell stories relating to Lord Krishna, his escapades! Stories about other enlightened souls also did the rounds. My interest in spirituality grew manifold. Meanwhile something within told me to search for God in this very life.
Whenever I accompanied my mother to Jain temples I used to search for God behind the idols kept there. When all my attempts failed I asked my mother where lived God, she used to just say… in the temples! All my attempts to find God failed. Other elders in the family also knew nothing. I was about nine years of age. I had finally decided to go in search of God full throttle in this very life. It was at this stage I immersed myself in whatever books I could lay my hands upon.
When my classmates used to play sports, I indulged in religious and spiritual books all the time. By the time I was 15 I was reading books relating to Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa and Maharishi Ramana… the two spiritual stalwarts who succeeded in reaching stage of enlightenment in their lifetime.
I indulged in every book relating to Mahavira, Gautama Buddha… even Jesus Christ and Prophet Mohammed! I never wanted to leave anything to chance. I wanted to reach the mind of these people… how they made it to the end! One book relating to Vardhamana Mahavira was truly an eye-opener. I was stuck on certain aspect of spiritual life and was not progressing further. The moment I read about Mahavira and his escapades… everything became crystal clear! Thereafter it was never looking back.
