Well normally it is the opposite. The parents planned their post retirement life, leaving nothing to chance! In case the parents were busy taking care of their siblings, education… then it becomes duty of their children to take care of them in their old age.
There were many things parents desired from within but were unable to accomplish before retirement as they were short of time or money. The offspring could indulge their parents in such activities that brought them happiness from within.
The help rendered by children to their parents post retirement must be proportional to their time and source of income. One must never put everything at stake for the sake of retired parents.
So many avenues for retired people were available these days. Furthermore elders in the family always acted as guardians of grandchildren, guiding them at each and every stage of evolution.
Living within our means, we must help our parents to any extent practically possible.
