When drunk, there was less pretension and more of truthfulness. It is presence of this truth that we invoked clearer thoughts than before. The ego in drunken state reduces considerably. In absence of ego (Aham in Hinduism), one was nearer to truth. In drunken state one exercised free will, power of discrimination more freely than before.
