The character of Lord Krishna in Mahabharata was symbolic, allegorical! Of its own every soul atman was inert, could not purify self of its own! Lord Krishna represents soul atman existing in human body, prime reason why Lord Krishna is depicted as sarthi (charioteer) of the chariot (human body) we called Arjuna. In absence of a body, a soul atman could not work out its karma, purify self. Our presumption that Lord Krishna was supreme and could do anything was misplaced.
Ever since creation of cosmos all souls atmans remained inert until life supporting planets like mother earth evolved in cosmic system. No sooner that happened, souls’ atmans immediately started manifesting life on mother earth. Karma can only be indulged through a body, never otherwise. In battle between Dharma (righteousness) and adharma (lawlessness) presence of a soul atman (Lord Krishna within) was an absolute must.
Every second thousands of thoughts flowed through our brain both positive and negative. The battle between positive and negative forces within our body continued all the time. By taking help of soul atman within we could easily cross ocean of Samsara (worldly life) and emancipate from cycle of birth and death forever. It is our consciousness, soul atman within that helps us distinguish right from wrong. Travelers of spiritual path finally overcome five senses and mind traveling path of dharma (righteousness). To reach our true inner self existing in our heart we have to overpower negative forces (negative thought process) forever. Only then we reached stage of Nirvikalpa Samadhi (state of absolute nothingness) when not a single thought flowed to our brain uninvoked.
The message conveyed by Bhagavad Gita was simple… break the cordon of five senses and mind to reach God in present life at the earliest. Remaining truthful all the time, we could get guidance from Lord Krishna all the time, for human body was only an instrument a medium for soul atman within to reach stage of absolute purity. From six years of age I indulged in path of spirituality. 37 years of age I finally succeeded in reaching god… realized self!
