Best Way to Meditate as detailed by Maharishi Ramana was indulging in Self Enquiry Path of Neti

The best way to meditate was detailed by Maharishi Ramana… one who reached God in his lifetime! All his life Maharishi Ramana indulged in path of self enquiry (path of Neti… not this, not this) to cut shackles of karma forever! Unless we negate karma to zero… we could never reach stage of enlightenment! The purpose of all yoga meditation always was… reaching end of cosmic life, 8.4 millionth manifestation… the stage of enlightenment (kaivalya jnana)!

The meditation path of self enquiry is best practiced lying in shavasna pose of yoga! Slowly step-by-step we negate all that was not god! When everything negates… what is left was God Almighty himself! As per Advaita Vedanta philosophy propagated by Adi Sankara, God Almighty (Brahman in Hinduism) was the only truth of life! The sole purpose of life on mother earth always was… we as a soul atman, the spirit within gaining absolute purity forever! This became possible by indulging in karma nishkama karma way!

Nishkama karma way of yoga simply means… indulging in karma as per trusteeship concept! And what is the trusteeship concept? A trustee always believes that everything in this world belonged to God Almighty. We were only a caretaker… doing his bidding, taking care of his things! While indulging in karma, offering fruits of karma performed to God Almighty all the time is what nishkama karma path of yoga all about! Difficult to practice in practical life… but for a serious traveler of spiritual path, nothing was impossible!

To reach God… we need establishing absolute control over five senses and mind! This became possible when we indulged in karma… nishkama karma way of life! Working with a detached attitude was what King Janaka and JRD Tata all their life did. Both King Janaka (father of Sita in Ramayana) and JRD Tata never attached self to fruits of karma performed! Both all the time desired welfare of mankind at large. King Janaka, JRD Tata were karma yogis’ par excellence, true sons of God Almighty!

Before indulgence in meditation we must understand what yoga meditation was all about! Meditation was not about sitting in a dark room concentrating on a dimly lit bulb or a candle. Meditation was a name given to yoga. And what does yoga mean? Yoga is derived from the root word yog which in Hinduism stood for attempt of a soul atman wanting to merge with Parmatman (God Almighty… Brahman in Hinduism)! In Hindi… two yog two equals four. Attempt of soul to yoke with God becomes possible when human beings indulged in path of yoga meditation to reach God in their lifetime!

The philosophy of yoga meditation… the entire path, the total concept is best detailed in teachings of Lord Krishna rendered to Arjuna in the battle of Mahabharata! Reaching God in a limited time span of 70 to 80 years of earthly sojourn was nothing short of a miracle! In present times… path of yoga meditation involves travelling path of jnana yoga (absolute wisdom) to cut across shackles of karma forever! In present times … one could not reach god via path of bhakti yoga (total surrender to God) alone. Our indulgence in path of jnana yoga (absolute wisdom) was an absolute must to understand hidden underlying precepts of spirituality contained in various scriptures of different religions of world.

Both path of nishkama karma yoga and jnana yoga were integral parts of yoga meditation in present times… one could not do without! Furthermore, one needs indulging in path of self enquiry… path of contemplation… path of logistical reasoning all the time! Read more on meditation
