Radha and Krishna Relationship

Who is Radha, the divine consort of Lord Krishna? What does Radha actually personify? In terms of spirituality how do we understand stature of Radha in Hinduism?

As everything in scriptures of Hinduism was symbolic, Radha stood for manifest creation, the physical manifest world we termed cosmos (Brahmaand in Hinduism). God Almighty (Brahman in Hinduism) manifests all his powers through Shakti (Radha), life supporting planets like mother earth. In absence of planets like mother earth, no soul atman could evolve.

Souls atmans need a medium, a body to work out their karma, remove dross impurities within. All souls atmans separated from their source at the time of big bang (when God Almighty Brahman exploded self) about 13.8 billion years before now. Almost 9.26 billion years later life supporting planets like mother earth evolved in cosmic system. Immediately thereafter souls’ atmans started manifesting life!

Radha signifies the importance of mother earth (the feminine side) in creation and running of cosmos.

Another aspect of Radha is power of absolute faith (Shraddha in Hinduism). Unless we developed absolute faith, 100% faith in God, unless we become a Radha in present life… we could never reach Lord Krishna. To realize self, to realize god, to reach stage of enlightenment (kaivalya jnana) becoming a Radha in physical manifest life was necessitated.

The devotional worship of Lord Krishna by Chaitanya Mahaprabhu highlights importance of total surrender to god on path of bhakti yoga to reach God Almighty. In the character of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu we can visualize Radha. Mira Bai, a contemporary of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu also took this path.
