Karma was the inherent ingredient of cosmic system that facilitates movement of life from one manifestation to another. In absence of karma no life could evolve in cosmic system, everything would just decay and die. The precept of karma is the most grossly misunderstood precept of Hinduism.
The fundamentals of karma could never be measured via medium of science. For science to understand karma belief in existence of souls’ atmans, god was necessitated.
As detailed in Bhagavad Gita we were primarily a soul atman, consciousness manifesting human body. We as a soul atman manifest human body to remove dross impurities within. This becomes possible via path of karma.
Imagine a lump of 100 KG of gold ore containing one KG of pure gold. This one KG of pure gold is pure soul atman surrounded by 99 KG of impurities. As one KG of pure gold could not separate itself of its own and needs requisite mining machinery and processes… a soul atman also requires manifesting a chain of 8.4 million bodies to cleanse self of dross impurities within. And here role of karma starts.
As our soul atman manifests body after another it was like 80 KG lump of gold ore then 65 KG and so on. In the 80 KG lump one KG of pure gold was surrounded by 79 KG of impurities. In the lump weighing 65 KG one KG of pure gold was surrounded by 64 KG of impurities. As human life progresses further, the dross impurities within our soul atman keep decreasing. This decrease in dross impurities within soul atman becomes possible when human beings indulged in karma.
Life was all about decreasing dross impurities within our soul atman. The moment one KG of pure gold separates from 99 KG impurities… we would hear a human being becoming an enlightened one. All enlightened souls like Mahavira, Gautama Buddha, Jesus Christ and Prophet Mohammed finally succeeded in negating 99 KG of dross impurities within in their lifetime. Indulging in negative karma we could never reduce dross impurities within. It was only through indulgence in good karma, positive karma we gained more and more purity as a soul atman.
