In a democratic setup like India who is primarily above all, the parliament or the courts? Any parliament world over is only meant for establishing laws, nothing more. The execution of these laws is the responsibility of the government. However if the Administration, the policing fail in their efforts then judiciary played its role in maintaining harmony in the society!
And in all courts of India, the oath is administered to everyone on the sacred Bhagavad Gita. Still, do we need announcing Bhagavad Gita as national scripture of India? It already is, was and shall continue to be the foremost of all scriptures existing on mother earth. There was nothing more pure, more sacred than Bhagavad Gita. Declaring Bhagavad Gita as a national scripture would tantamount to giving a noble prize to Mahavira, Gautama Buddha, Jesus Christ or Prophet Mohammed in absentia!
It would really be blasphemy to declare a scripture as pure as Bhagavad Gita as national scripture. Everything in India could get destroyed but not the teachings contained in Bhagavad Gita. They were universal, meant for uplifting of mankind. The sacred Bhagavad Gita was never short of a wanton status. In absence of teachings contained in Bhagavad Gita not a single human being on mother earth could reach stage of enlightenment (kaivalya jnana), stage of moksha salvation.
