Enlightenment could not be reached indulging in scriptural texts literally. In the last about 150 years amongst 7 billion people existing world over only two spiritual stalwarts Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa and Maharishi Ramana finally succeeded in reaching stage of enlightenment. As ordained by god and written in Hinduism scriptures in a time span of 100 to 200 years not more than one or two enlightened souls could exist on mother earth. The reason was apparent. If 50 Gautama Buddha came simultaneously, it would be chaos all over… who to worship or not!
Both Mahavira and Gautama Buddha were contemporaries and so were Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa and Maharishi Ramana.
Enlightenment can be gained indulging in spirituality through path of contemplation, introspection… logical reasoning… never bookish knowledge!
