The ultimate purpose of life for a human being was emancipation from cycle of birth and death at the earliest. Enlightenment could be gained only in human form, never lower forms of life. Belief in doctrine of reincarnation, rebirth was not a matter of choice. It was inbuilt into the cosmic system. We as a soul atman could cleanse self of dross impurities within only through process of reincarnation, rebirth.
This also means we were not a manifest physical human form alone but a spirit, consciousness existing in our heart as our soul atman. Belief in God, a creator was also not a matter of choice. We may or may not believe in god in present life but our firm belief in God was necessitated to reach stage of enlightenment, moksha salvation.
The gist of life finally reduces to… that we were ordained by god to indulge in spirituality, yoga meditation to reach cosmic end of life… become a man god like Mahavira, Gautama Buddha… Jesus Christ… Prophet Mohammed or Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa, Maharishi Ramana.
