At any given moment of time one of the two was governing… our free will or ego! Practicing truthfulness all the time we could exercise free will, power of discrimination that helps us distinguish right from wrong, truth from false. Dominated by a bloated ego, mesmerized by glare of worldly riches… we indulged more in material pursuits of life. Choice was ours, what path we wanted to follow in life!
In absence of free will practically we would be no better than animals.
