Monotheism and Hinduism Scriptures

Directly or indirectly almost all scriptures of Hinduism relate to monotheism, existence of one God (Brahman in Hinduism). Even Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva, part of Hindu Trinity are simply attributes of God Almighty.

Bhagavad Gita, the sermon given to mankind by Lord Krishna and Upanishads (independent treatises) dealt exhaustively with the concept of Brahman, the one and only God Almighty. In scriptures of Hinduism Brahman is also termed as Sanatana Purusha, Karta, Parmatman, Bhagwan, Hari, Param Pita Parmeshwar. Advaita Vedanta doctrine of Hinduism propagated by Adi Shankaracharya also believes in existence of one and only God. As detailed by Adi Shankaracharya the rest was his manifestation.

As detailed in Upanishads (independent treatises) the present cosmos came into being when God Almighty (Brahman in Hinduism) exploded self with a big bang. At the time of big bang there was nothing else except God Almighty, the cluster of all pure souls’ atmans in cosmos, the size of half a thumb.
