Existence of 330 Million Gods in Hindu Mythology

Mythology does not relate to reality. It was an abstract way to highlight importance of various precepts of a particular religion. Existence of 330 million gods (33 crores) in Hindu mythology was meaningless… does not carry any real weightage in field of religion or spirituality!

When Hindu people went to Hindu temples… they prayed to different gods as pleased them. Some prayed to Shiva (aka Mahesh)… some to Brahma… others to Vishnu and various other gods and goddesses! Commoners, masses could never conceptualize, visualize Nirakaar form of God Almighty (having no form). They worshipped God as Sakaar (having a form)! As the belief… accordingly the prayer, worship!

All these different forms of gods and goddesses including Lord Shiva, Lord Brahma and Lord Vishnu… were only attributes of God Almighty (termed Brahman in Hinduism). Either we prayed to Brahman in Nirakaar form which most spiritual travelers did. Travelers of religious path (believers of rituals)… prayed to different forms of God… different attributes of God!

In Bhagavad Gita Lord Krishna says… all prayers, worship addressed to different attributes of god and goddesses finally comes to me… the ultimate creator of all cosmos! In the circumstances… it is always best to pray to the ultimate omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent God Almighty (Brahman). As per Advaita Vedanta philosophy of Hinduism, Brahman was the only truth of life. Except Brahman (God Almighty) nothing existed in cosmos. Read more on gods and goddesses
