A soul atman manifests a form, a body only because it was imbibed with dross impurities within. In absence of dross impurities within, the need for a pure soul atman to manifest a body did not exist. As evolution and karma demand that we undergo both sufferings and happiness, in reality both were two sides of the same coin. In absence of one the other carried no meaning.
If we are to separate one KG of pure gold from 99 KG of dross impurities within, we need boiling the 100 KG lump of gold ore, breaking it into pieces and passing it through various mining machinery and processes. The period when ore was subjected to boiling, it was time for suffering! The moment ore was passed through cold water, it was time for rejoicing, experiencing happiness.
It is only through cycle of sufferings and happiness life evolved in cosmic life cycle! Both sufferings and happiness were integral part of karma.
