Power of Practicing Truthfulness Questioning the Teacher Guru Shishya Parampara

From childhood I followed path of absolute truthfulness all throughout. So much so when in second class I realized for myself power of practicing truthfulness. The deputy headmaster of the school always boxed ears of some children when passing through the gallery of the school. There was no reason for doing so, he was habituated. Pleadings of children carried no weight.

One day the headmaster of the school came to my grandfather for his usual session. He used to take guidance from my grandfather from time to time. I was not aware of this happening. While playing in the courtyard one day adjoining my grandfather I noticed the headmaster coming and sitting besides my grandfather. I continued playing unaware of the surroundings.

After the usual chitchat the headmaster chanced to look at me and asked my grandfather where I studied. At that moment I bluntly said, I am a student in your school. He was extremely pleased to hear that… the grandson of his mentor studying in his school! After that I turned to go away. It was at that moment the headmaster noticed my swollen red ears and asked the reason for the same.

Being truthful I narrated the whole incident to the headmaster. The headmaster was not only established but flabbergasted… he was practically floored and asked my grandfather forgiveness for the deed. He told my grandfather that he would seriously look into the matter. The next day it was time for school prayer in the morning hours. All students had collected in the veranda.

After the morning assembly prayer was done the headmaster called me on the stage and asked the reason for my boxed red swollen ears. I narrated the whole incident in minute detail. I also told the headmaster about other children whose ears also had been boxed. I was told to get all the children on the stage. But even my best friends refused to do so. It took a lot of convincing to bring them on the stage as they all feared the deputy headmaster.

Luckily the deputy headmaster arrived late. No sooner he came on the stage, the headmaster pin-pointedly asked him about the reason for boxed ears. He had nothing to say. Then and there the headmaster dismissed the deputy headmaster from service with immediate effect. It was that day I observed power of absolute truthfulness and also faith.

All the children of the school were so ecstatic that they lifted me on their shoulders and took me around the whole colony where the school was located. When the students did not return for about half an hour, the headmaster declared holiday for the day.

This incident made me realize, that we could not only question one senior to us but also our teachers who we think were wrong and their ideologies misplaced! At every stage of life we were free to question every single teacher based on absolute truth. If the teacher apparently seemed wrong, the voice of our soul atman come from within our heart would always tell us so. Guided by voice of this soul atman we could take further course of action, even go against the teacher… question him without any fear.

All human beings are imbibed with free will, power of discrimination exercising which we could discriminate right from wrong, truth from false all the time!
