When confronted with Dharma (righteousness) and adharma (lawlessness)… politics had no role to play! Practice of nonviolence when facing enemy loaded with AK-47 was not practicing Dharma at all. We just could not fight in present times with bows and arrows because they were mentioned in scriptures. The battle of Mahabharata was a battle to re-establish Dharma (righteousness) against evil forces of adharma (lawlessness). In such times practicing spirituality, nonviolence was totally ruled out. The Dharma of a Kshatriya King demands we face the enemy head-on and that is exactly what Arjuna did.
