To understand precepts of Hinduism our belief in world of souls’ atmans was necessitated.
Amoeba (single cell formation), the first manifestation by a soul atman can exist in human body. For an amoeba the entire human body was not less than a cosmos (Brahmaand in Hinduism). For an amoeba residing in intestines God was like an endless tunnel. For an amoeba residing in heart God was like a throbbing mountain. As the belief of mankind, accordingly the manifestation… attribute of god.
Similar to, as many human beings as many paths to God Almighty can there be… we can say, as many human beings as many manifestations, attributes of God Almighty can there be. In Hinduism those believing in creative aspect of God called him Lord Brahma. Others believing him as a maintainer, called him Lord Vishnu. Those who visualized God as a destroyer, controller of life and death called him Lord Shiva. In reality all the three Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva were only attributes of God (Brahman in Hinduism), nothing more.
Travelling back in time when not a single religion existed in world, mankind still survived rigors of day-to-day life supported by “Dharma” … “Your right to do what is just and right and not what was destined”, a definition of Dharma dictated to me directly by God Almighty.
As the brain of mankind had not yet evolved, human beings feared fury of nature all the time. Not knowing what God Almighty was all about… those affected by rains prayed to God Varuna for relief. Those inflicted by heavy winds prayed to Vayu Devta. Those suffering from scorching heat, prayed to Sun God. As the suffering, the belief… accordingly the manifestation, attribute of God. With passage of time thousands of gods and goddesses became part of Hindu mythology. But the absolute reality always lay fixed. God Almighty (Brahman in Hinduism), the creator of entire cosmos was one and only one.
As mankind failed to conceptualize entirety of God (Brahman), it worshipped God as an attribute. This fallacy exists even today. Followers of religious path (rituals) prayed to attribute of God Almighty. Those seeking God in present life, travelers of spiritual path always paid obeisance to Brahman (the one and only God). To realize our true inner self, to reach god our following path of spirituality was necessitated.
From six years of age I abhorred going to temples, churches and mosques. Mere rituals carried me no where. I started travelling path of pure spirituality, path of contemplation, logical reasoning… path of self enquiry to reach God in present life. My search for God became serious 13 years of age.
25 years of yoga meditation I finally reached God, realized self in wee hours of third of August 1993 at 37 years of age. Had I remained indulged in attributes of God all my life, I would have reached nowhere on spiritual path. It was only grace of God that I realized the distinction between religion and spirituality early in life. This is my last manifestation on mother earth, 8.4 millionth manifestation. Nothing to learn more, nowhere to go further moment I leave my mortal frame I shall attain salvation moksha forever.
