Bhagavad Gita Soul Atman Punishment in Hell

Who says a soul gets punished when it goes to hell? In Bhagavad Gita Lord Krishna simply says that going to heaven or hell was a property of soul atman, never the manifest physical human form.

As detailed in Upanishads (independent treatises), both heaven and hell (swarga and naraka in Hinduism) were places for stay of souls atmans.

Heaven (swarga) exists in core of sun where temperatures exceed millions of degrees centigrade. It was in such high temperatures our soul atman felt comfortable. Hell (naraka) exists in periphery of sun where temperatures were considerably less. It was in such low temperatures our soul atman suffered for eternity.

A soul atman suffering in hell was symbolic. If a human being was made to sit in 60°C temperature, then even a minute would feel as if many hours have elapsed.

After a soul atman manifests a body, it keeps manifesting form after another. After death of body on mother earth, the released soul atman hibernates in heaven or hell… in heaven if the residual balance of karma at the time of death of body was positive and hell, if negative.

Sooner matching parents become available on mother earth, the hibernating soul atman immediately manifests a new body on mother earth to start new cycle of life.
