The biggest misnomer on path of pure spirituality was… we had to learn something from sacred texts. Truth was not so. By indulging in sacred texts, by realizing the hidden inner meaning… we succeeded in removing dross impurities within our soul atman! Jnana wisdom was all about negating karma to zero, never increasing our knowledge. Prime reason why bookish knowledge carried no meaning in spiritual world! No matter how many times we read Bhagavad Gita or Upanishads, we never gained anything!
For reaching stage of enlightenment (kaivalya jnana)… our indulgence in sacred texts of different religions was necessitated. The hidden inner meaning in scriptures could only be realized through path of introspection, contemplation, logical reasoning… self enquiry (Neti… not this, not this). We had to establish absolute control over five senses and mind to reach stage of kaivalya jnana.
For indulging in sacred scriptures, willpower exhibited by Swami Vivekananda was an absolute must.
