An Arihanta in Jainism stood for stage of enlightenment. In present life one could gain enlightenment only by indulgence in Bhagavad Gita, teachings of Lord Krishna in the battle of Mahabharata. How many in Jainism after Mahavira succeeded in reaching stage of enlightenment… not even one!
Allegorically Lord Krishna represents soul atman existing in human body. Lord Krishna is always depicted as sarthi (charioteer) of the chariot (human body) belonging to Arjuna. No sooner Arjuna assimilated teachings of Lord Krishna in the sermon of Bhagavad Gita; he prepared self for battle of dharma (righteousness). Eventually Arjuna succeeded in gaining enlightenment in his lifetime.
By following Lord Krishna within, assimilating teachings of Lord Krishna through path of contemplation every Jain on mother earth could gain enlightenment in present life. It was an absolute misnomer that Bhagavad Gita was a sacred text of Hinduism alone. The teachings of Bhagavad Gita were universal in nature… could be followed by any human being on mother earth.
To cleanse self of dross impurities within, our assimilating teachings of Bhagavad Gita was an absolute must. Only then we could successfully indulge in nishkama karma yoga, practice absolute celibacy for a period of 12 years in continuation… indulge in contemplation to realize unveil the hidden underlying meaning of sacred texts in scriptures of different religions of world.
The teachings of Bhagavad Gita act as a guide… everything is assimilated only through contemplation!
