In times of extreme strife, tribulation advent an avatar of that era (God manifest in human form)! In Dwapar Yuga came Lord Krishna and in present people await advent of Kalki avatar. Kalki avatar would be a true copy of Lord Krishna (not Maryada Purushottam Rama).
Almost similar conditions as existed in Dwapar Yuga existed in present Kali Yuga (Dark Age, metal age). To cleanse the society of its ills, to re-establish dharma (righteousness) against evil forces of adharma (lawlessness) coming of an avatar was mandated by God every 3500 to 5000 years.
