Videha Mukti simply means freeing self from attachment of body. Traveling path of spirituality when we realized self, realized god… we become a Videha Mukta forever. When a soul atman gains absolute purity, devoid of dross impurities within it did not manifest a human body again. The stoppage of reincarnation, rebirth process was termed Videha Mukti. The word Mukti stood for liberation, liberation from bondage of body, liberation from manifestation of body again and again.
The stage of Videha Mukti is realized indulging in yoga meditation… path of contemplation, introspection… logical reasoning! Jivan Mukti is the second term for Videha Mukti. Jivan is derived from root word Jivan which in Hindi stood for a living being, something possessing life. When a soul atman manifests physical body it becomes a Jiva, a life form. The earthly sojourn by a Jiva is termed Jivan (the earthly journey). This earthly journey by a soul atman comes to an end when it emancipates forever from cycle of birth and death. Again Jivan Mukti means Videha Mukti.
After realizing our true inner self, becoming a pure soul atman a human being reaches stage of Jivan Mukti… the stage when physical manifest form was present but the soul atman within was pure, free of bondage of karma forever. When a Videha Mukta or Jivan Mukta left mortal frame, one attains moksha salvation forever. The cosmic journey of life freed of all manifestations finally comes to an end.
