The difference between practical and theory was demonstrated in a simple but very unique experiment:
A very typical glass flask was got made and filled with water. The physicists that had collected from all over were asked to measure the contents of the flask. Every physicist tried his own formula, his own method to come at the right solution but could not. The typical shape of the flask made it almost impossible to measure the contents of the flask. And then the experiment called a small boy and asked him to measure the contents of the flask. The child took out a new cylindrical flask that was calibrated and poured the contents of the old flask into this new flask. In a moment the result was there.
In the field of meditation there could be many theories doing rounds both, old and new, eastern and western but practical approach to meditation seemed non-existent. Practical approach to meditation means indulging in meditation and reaching the cosmic end… stage of enlightenment! All over world people indulged in meditation throughout life but gained nothing out of it. Some outcome, some benefit was inevitable but none reached the desired end. The reason is apparent.
From six years of age I started in search of God. When I was told to sit in a room and concentrate on the centre of a dimly lit candle… I just rejected the theory and indulged in contemplation, self enquiry. It took days, months… probably years before I realized the right procedure to indulge in yoga meditation.
Through contemplation, introspection within I realized that yoga derived from root word yog which simply means our soul atman, the consciousness within wanting to yoke with God Almighty, Parmatman (Brahman). The precept of yoga becoming clear, I wanted to indulge in meditation to reach the end result of yoga… God Almighty himself. By hit and trial I realized meditation could be indulged only via path of contemplation, introspection… logical reasoning, path of jnana yoga (absolute wisdom).
By indulgence in scriptures of different religions of world increased predominately. Traveling path of jnana yoga I started assimilating pearls of wisdom contained in sacred texts of different religions of world. For this all the time I indulged in contemplation. In simple words contemplation means reaching the logical answer to a query. If someone asked me what was milk then I would start my story from how grass is grown and a car or a buffalo eats that grass to produce milk. The whole story from A to Z unless clear, one could never understand the philosophy behind production of milk. This whole process of self enquiry was self-contained. We were all the time talking to our soul atman to get answers from within.
It was almost 7 to 8 years before I realized the meaning of dharma. Every single precept of spirituality took its own time. Differentiating religion from spirituality was another difficult task. And finally I understood what spirituality was all about. The word spirituality stems from spirit that existed within us as consciousness, soul atman existing in our heart. And started my journey of indulgence in yoga meditation… path of contemplation, introspection… logical reasoning!
31 years of indulgence in contemplation, logical reasoning… introspection, self enquiry (Neti… not this, not this) I finally reached portals of God Almighty in the wee hours of third of August 1993 37 years of age. This is my last manifestation on mother earth, 8.4 millionth manifestation… last in cosmic life cycle. The moment I leave my mortal frame I shall attain moksha salvation.
Why indulge in precepts theoretically when the end result was practically zero. There were never many paths to indulgence in yoga meditation. Even while morning walk, talking, standing, sitting, swimming… indulging in business… other daily routines of life I continued my journey of introspection, logical reasoning… contemplation all the time. I wanted to emancipate forever from cycle of birth and death within this span of life. By grace of God Almighty I succeeded in my attempt.
