Something Within told me I could Find God Pursuing Lord Krishna

I was born in a Jain family. Though I am unable to distinguish Jainism from Hinduism, I am giving my personal perspective how I perceived Lord Krishna from six years of age.

I wanted to believe in God, see him. When I ritually followed my mother to Jain temples, I somehow could not believe in idols of Tirthankaras (preceptors) kept in Jain temples. I used to ask my mother, where was God! She used to say in the idols. We just need to pray to God in front of idols. My mother used to tell me idols were a medium to pray to God.

Something was amiss, my query was not answered. Who was God and where could I find him. As stories of Lord Krishna did rounds in my house, I started believing in Lord Krishna. Something within told me, I could find God pursuing Lord Krishna. I was never proved wrong in my surmise.

As teachings of Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa and Maharishi Ramana affirmed my faith in Lord Krishna, my faith in teachings of Lord Krishna in Bhagavad Gita became absolute. I started traveling path of spirituality detailed in Bhagavad Gita.

My grandfather became a Jain Muni at a young age (Digambar Munis are naked) but whenever I put forward my queries to him, I did not get satisfying replies. I finally quit asking him.

I started in search of God six years of age, 31 years of spiritual travail I finally reached God. Had it not been for teachings of Lord Krishna in Bhagavad Gita, I would have never reached God in present life. For me, teachings of Lord Krishna in Bhagavad Gita were summum bonum of spirituality. In the entire world, there was nothing nobler than teachings of Lord Krishna in Bhagavad Gita.
