When a pure soul atman started its cosmic journey of life it got mired in impurities. To cleanse self of dross impurities within a soul atman needs life supporting planets like mother earth. No sooner mother earth evolved souls atmans started manifesting life. After passing 7.3 million manifestations in insect, plant and animal life the soul atman finally manifests human form for the first time.
As detailed in Bhagavad Gita no soul atman could purify self of its own… it needs a medium, a body to work out its karma remove dross impurities within! For the body to work God Almighty ordained existence of ego (Aham in Hinduism)! In absence of ego no human being on mother earth would indulge in karma… everything would become stagnant, decay and die.
As a child the ego was very subdued. As we grow we get dominated by ego. Travelers of spiritual path, those in search of enlightenment need subduing their ego to zero. Only then one could succeed establishing absolute control over five senses and mind. The moment karma negates to zero, in absence of dross impurities within a soul atman reaches stage of absolute purity forever!
