Before finding a spiritual advisor… we ought to know the correct definition of spirituality! As per scriptures of Hinduism… spirituality was the path to reach our inner self, our consciousness that existed within our heart! The path of spirituality is always travelled all alone. Why? To realize our true nature… to realize our true inner self… our following path of self enquiry was mandated by God. Literally… we could follow nothing on path of pure spirituality! Spiritual journey demands contemplation at every stage of life.
Mahavira… 24th Tirthankara of Jainism (preceptor) rightly said… do not preach unless you become an enlightened one… a bodhi, a Jina! In the present world in last about 150 years amongst 7 billion people existing world over… only Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa and Maharishi Ramana finally succeeded in reaching end stage of spirituality… gaining enlightenment in their lifetime! In present times we find hordes of so-called religious teachers preaching half baked theories to gullible mankind in name of spirituality.
Those who knew nothing about spirituality… how could they preach spirituality? As one would never indulge in spirituality literally… it is in our interest that we indulged in teachings of Lord Krishna contained in Bhagavad Gita… to know everything relating to spirituality! The 700 shlokas verses contained in Bhagavad Gita sufficed in present times to complete our spiritual journey in totality. Goal of spiritual life always was… reaching stage of enlightenment (kaivalya jnana) and finally moksha salvation!
When I started in search of God six years of age… I did not know what spirituality or god was all about! It took me many years… perhaps more than a decade before I realized the difference between religion and spirituality. Path of religion was primarily indulging in rituals that never led to God Almighty. In present times one could reach god only via path of spirituality as detailed in scriptures of Hinduism! The contents of Bhagavad Gita were not difficult to understand if we followed path of truthfulness always and ever.
Foremost of all… we were primarily a spirit, a consciousness… a soul atman on its cosmic life cycle of 8.4 million manifestations that entailed an earthly journey of 96.4 million years. To regain its lost pure prime pristine primordial form forever is the ultimate goal of life for a soul atman. This became possible… when human beings travelled path of spirituality as detailed in Bhagavad Gita! To learn intricacies of spiritual path… even Jesus Christ and Prophet Mohammed indulged in teachings contained in Bhagavad Gita!
The lost years in the life of Jesus Christ (14 to 29) explained it all. During this period Jesus Christ came to India to indulge in scriptures of Hinduism… namely teachings contained in Bhagavad Gita, various Upanishads (independent treatises) and different Vedas (Hinduism revelations)! Path of spirituality in present times could only be followed through teachings contained in Bhagavad Gita. Why so?
After advent of Gautama Buddha, Jesus Christ and Prophet Mohammed… none in the western world reached stage of enlightenment (kaivalya jnana). Everything related to spirituality was available in Bhagavad Gita. One need not go anywhere or search for a spiritual preceptor. Remaining wherever we are… we could indulge in teachings of spirituality contained in Bhagavad Gita and Upanishads. Initially the spiritual journey seemed difficult… but following path of nishkama karma yoga and jnana yoga (absolute wisdom)… path became easier!
I have followed this path… so can others! Spiritual journey not only is fascinating but at the end of journey… we come face to face with God Almighty! Read more on spirituality and enlightenment
