As God Almighty was one and only one termed Brahman in Hinduism… all other gods and goddesses were creation of mankind. As it was not possible for mankind to visualize, conceptualize the invincible, the omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent God… various manifestations of God were created by mankind.
Like in Hinduism those worshipping air created God Varuna, those worshipping sun created God Surya Devta. As the belief, accordingly the manifestation of God! In Hinduism 330 million gods existed, practically one God for every four Hindus. Unbelievable, but it was true.
The Hindu Trinity of gods consisting of Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva denotes the creative, preservative and destroying power of God. The prime reason why Brahma is called the creator, Vishnu the maintainer and Lord Shiva the destroyer… the ultimate controller!
In reality God Almighty was Nirakaar in form (having no form).
