Living according to Bhagavad Gita way of life simply means indulging in karma nishkama karma way of life. We must always indulge in karma as a trustee… a custodian, caretaker of things that already belonged to God Almighty. We must live like a true soldier of God, as nothing truly belonged to us.
Primarily we were a spirit… a soul atman on its cosmic life cycle of 8.4 million manifestations that entailed an earthly journey of 96.4 million years. As the physical manifest human form was only a medium to work out its karma… fruits of karma indulged by human beings always belonged to our soul atman.
Indulgence in Gita demands…travelling path of contemplation, self enquiry… logical reasoning! The hidden cosmic precepts of life contained in Bhagavad Gita could never be understood literally, it demands reading in between the lines. To negate karma to zero, our indulgence in path of jnana yoga (absolute wisdom) was an absolute must. While living in family it sometimes become difficult to contemplate.
Only an ardent traveler of spiritual path like Swami Vivekananda could accomplish this feat.
Bhagavad Gita does not advocate living with a detached attitude. Bhagavad Gita says we must indulge in karma with an unattached attitude as fruits of karma belonged to our soul atman. Most human beings in present times detached self to travel path of jnana yoga as detailed in Bhagavad Gita. This was an absolute misnomer. Most seekers found in places of religious interest like Haridwar, Rishikesh or Varanasi left their family midway in search of god. Karma is never burnt that way.
Lord Krishna says one who travels spiritual path living in family was the biggest Yogi of all, Yogi of all yogis.
