Indulging in Karma without Attachment to Fruits of Karma was Practicing Nishkama Karma Yoga

Indulging in karma without attachment to fruits of karma was practicing nishkama karma yoga. Lord Krishna in Bhagavad Gita explicitly details merits of indulging in nishkama karma yoga. Negation of karma, a necessity of spiritual path was possible only through indulgence in nishkama karma yoga. We need working like a trustee, a caretaker for whom everything belonged to God Almighty all the time. For, a true nishkama karma Yogi, welfare of mankind was above all. King Janaka (father of Sita in Ramayana) though enlightened, indulged in affairs of his kingdom with an unattached attitude.

Normal human beings indulged in karma for the sake of fruits of karma performed. But for a true karma Yogi, fruits of karma always belonged to our real inner self, our soul atman existing in our heart. Indulging in nishkama karma yoga demands negating our ego to zero! Devoid of personal vested interests, a true seeker indulged in nishkama karma yoga for the welfare of mankind all the time. Nishkama karma yoga without fruits, any kind of attachment was never bonding.
