Finding your True Self Inner Self Soul Atman

Those indulging in spirituality often used the word inner self, our true self. What does it actually mean for a traveler of spiritual or religious path? Those travelling path of religion particularly in India believed that they were primarily a soul atman, the consciousness within manifesting human form to work out its karma. Beyond that they did not want to indulge for the fear of losing their family. Most Indians, Hindus believed indulging more in our true self, inner self separates one from family in totality. This is an ignorant belief, a total misnomer. In yesteryears yes, one could say for searching our true inner self one needed becoming a recluse, venturing into deep dense jungles (forests) for contemplation, intense meditation.

But in present times nothing of the sort was needed. With evolution of life and human brain one could indulge in path of contemplation, self enquiry, logical reasoning even while sitting in confines of home or office. I have indulged in yoga meditation sitting near the busiest motor crossings in the capital of India, the famed AIIMS crossing. Presently instead of a crossing we have a network of super overhead bridges. Yoga meditation can be indulged anywhere as per convenience. The limitations of past could never bind our present or future. Everything lay in hands of mankind. As the venue, accordingly the manifestation! Lying in a grass lawn anywhere in a city one could indulge in shavasna path of yoga.

No high-end yoga studios were needed for gaining enlightenment, reaching god, our true inner self.

For a traveler of spiritual path, reaching our true inner self was end goal of life. Reaching our true inner self, reaching our soul atman, the consciousness within announces end of cosmic journey for a soul atman. A spiritual traveler firmly believes that we were primarily a spiritual being, a soul atman on its cosmic life cycle of 8.4 million manifestations that entailed an earthly journey of 96.4 million years. Ever since a soul atman separates from its source, God Almighty himself (Brahman in Hinduism) it desires regaining its lost original pure prime pristine primordial form at the earliest. This can only be achieved when human beings travelled path of pure spirituality to realize their true inner self… their soul atman, the spirit within. Realizing god, realizing self always meant the same.

God Almighty was not distinct from souls’ atmans. In fact God Almighty exists within all living beings including human beings in miniscule form as our soul atman, the spirit within. If an individual grain of sand is an independent soul atman, the whole mound God Almighty. If an individual piece of puzzle is an independent soul atman, the completed puzzle God Almighty. Reaching our true inner self means reaching God in all its glory! For a pure soul atman the cosmic journey of life finally comes to an end. Reaching our true inner self means becoming a pure soul atman in the cosmic journey of life! Having gained absolute purity, the need for a soul atman to manifest a new body any further ceases to exist!

Human beings continued present journey of life dominated by a bloated ego. It is because of presence of this ego (Aham in Hinduism) we failed to realize our true identity as a soul atman, the consciousness within. By indulgence in sacred texts of different religions of world, as our ignorance melted, we realized hidden underlying cosmic truths of life. The sole purpose of all sacred scriptures was removing our ignorance forever. We can subdue our ego in totality only by travelling spiritual path, never path of religion. Indulging in nishkama karma yoga, following path of jnana yoga (absolute wisdom) we can finally remove all traces of ignorance forever. Ignorance, dross impurities within removed forever… our soul atman, the true inner self shone like a radiant bright sun.
