Belief is something developed, based on our own experience or experience of others. Belief relates to workings of physical manifest life. As our buddhi (intellect) evolves… our belief also varies from time to time. If the parents tell a young child that God exists then it was most likely that one believes the same.
Faith always develops from within. Faith directly relates to presence of consciousness, soul atman in our heart. We always carried a faith in something unknowable, invisible. Most human beings on mother earth had faith in God Almighty although none had seen him. We believed in presence of soul atman in our heart as something fluttered in our heart most of time. Remaining truthful, we could feel its physical presence.
Faith in God also varies from individual to individual. Those manifesting truthfulness had more faith in God Almighty compared to those who were less truthful, busy with day-to-day routines of life! Travelers of spiritual path always had greater faith in God compared to commoners, masses. The faith of religious believers was more of a ritual than those practicing spirituality.
Belief primarily develops with experience, time. We developed faith in god only if we were truthful.
