If we look back in life we find many people in present life suffering for sins not committed in present life. This results from negative residual balance of karma from previous manifestations. There was no other theory that explains this phenomenon. To understand principle of reincarnation our belief in world of souls’ atmans was necessitated.
As detailed in Bhagavad Gita we were primarily a spirit, a consciousness… a soul atman manifesting human form! As a soul atman we manifest human form to remove dross impurities within. Of its own no soul atman could purify self; it needs a medium a body to work out its karma!
If we look at the logical reasoning of the precept why God exists, why we exist… we find after creation of cosmos all souls atmans in their cosmic sojourn gathered impurities. To cleanse self of dross impurities within starts cosmic life cycle of every soul atman.
As per Hinduism scriptures in its life span totaling 8.4 million manifestations… a soul atman undergoes initial 7.3 million manifestations in insect, plant and animal life. In the remaining 1.1 million manifestations in human form we were expected to reach stage of enlightenment… moksha salvation!
Reincarnation, rebirth was an important integral part of cosmic life that facilitates movement of life from one manifestation to another. The soul atman remaining the same it just keeps changing bodies after another. We are lucky to be born a human; it was only in human form our soul atman finally emancipates from cycle of birth and death forever.
