From humanity point of view we called it rebirth because the human body dies. From cosmic point of view souls’ atmans word indestructible, could neither be created or destroyed. They manifest a new body after another. For a soul atman the entire journey of 8.4 million manifestations was one single span of life. Call whatever we may… rebirth or reincarnation, a soul atman after death of human body again manifests a new body to start new cycle of life. This continues until a soul atman reaches 8.4 millionth manifestation, the stage when human beings reached stage of enlightenment. At this stage devoid of dross impurities within, soul atman gains absolute purity forever.
If we believed in God, if we believed in world of souls atmans… only then doctrine of rebirth, reincarnation becomes clear. We were primarily a spirit, a consciousness… a soul atman on its cosmic journey of life. Human form was but a medium for a soul atman to cleanse self of dross impurities within.
