Hinduism Do we need a Temple to Pray to God

Even as of today… where communities, people do not have enough sources to build a temple… they just select a tree or a stone and considering it a symbol of god… pray to it! The Pipal or a banyan tree is considered pious of all. Whatever the means available in India… people pray to God accordingly!

In yester era when modern facilities were not available… people had their own way to pray to God! Those who believed in Nirakaar form of God (having no form) did not require a medium. For those believing in Sakaar form of God (having a form)… wanted a medium like temple, tree or a stone.

In India exist thousands of cases even in present times… where no temples exist! Still, people pray to God with means available! Truly speaking… praying to God does not need a medium! Why? As per Bhagavad Gita God Almighty existed within us in miniscule form as our soul atman, the spirit within!

If we desire reaching god in present life, we need reaching our true inner self… our soul atman, the consciousness within! The purport of Bhagavad Gita is to reach our true inner self… realize our true inner self! The moment soul atman residing in our heart gains absolute purity… cosmic cycle of life for a soul atman finally comes to an end!

The ultimate purpose of praying to God, worshipping God was reaching God in present life! Simply by offering our prayers, worshipping God… one never reached God! It was only by pursuing path of jnana yoga (path of wisdom) detailed in Bhagavad Gita… human beings finally reached stage of enlightenment!

Temple is only a means to an end… and so are churches and mosques! As per scriptures of Hinduism, God exists everywhere… in all affairs of life! People who understood this inherent aspect of life… never needed a medium… a temple to pray to God! Read more on God
