In Pranayama (breathing exercise) we try to connect with consciousness, our soul atman existing in our heart. This effort of trying to connect with the spirit inside was highly captivating, energizing. It also produces inner calm, at times feelings of total tranquility, serenity. Pranayama primarily was part of spiritual journey undertaken by seekers. As there were no side effects, there was no harm in trying.
Indulgence in pranayama was not a days or weeks job. It takes years before one masters this technique.
