One who was more truthful, had control over ego (Aham in Hinduism) could easily establish, align with mental frequency of others. In some cases one could totally overpower others mentally. Soul mates always worked on same mental frequency. If we desire freeing self from clutches of others, we must increase our mental prowess by remaining truthful most of time. We need establishing control over five senses slowly step-by-step. We also need subduing our ego, a big hurdle on path of gaining success in life. In absence of ego our soul atman, the consciousness within becomes dominating and then none could overpower us.
